And published by Sierra On-Line, Inc., this educational and puzzle game is available for free on this page. Like a video camera, but with an extra dimension. Apple will push out update notices to your computer because they contain bug fixes and often security updates but it is your choice whether to upgrade or not. Updating a computer's operating system will almost never result in your programs no longer functioning or force you to purchase a new peripheral device like a printer or scanner because the software that makes them work is no longer compatible. However operating upgrades can break software and drivers forcing you to not only upgrade the operating system but software and hardware as well. Further, some upgrades cannot be installed on older hardware.
The good news is that the 2011 MBA runs the newest Mac OS just fine. The bad news is that significant changes have occurred between 10.7 and 10.12 so you'll almost certainly be forced to upgrade some software (and perhaps hardware) too. This Web site: https://roaringapps.com/ is a great resource for determining what software is compatible and what software needs to be upgraded. For your peripherals (scanner & printer for most people) go to the manufacturer's Web site and see if drivers for your device exist for Sierra.
Before embarking on this upgrade it is vital that you purchase an external hard drive and back up the computer. While upgrade failures are rare, they do happen and can be catastrophic.
